Butterflies Memory Loss Support Group is involved in a number of projects aimed at raising awareness and understanding of dementia in young people and the community in general.
This awareness is raised with the help of the George Cooke singers, named in memory of founder June Cooke’s father. Each year the Butterflies invites primary, secondary and college age children to watch a play to increase their knowledge and understanding.
The play - Grandma Remember Me - is the story of a young girl's journey with her grandmother, who has Alzheimer’s.
There is a resource pack available for teachers to work with the children before to the performance and an opportunity for the school or college to participate or follow up work with Butterflies.
