Project Overview
- The shared aim is to explore how behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) can affect the wellbeing of people with dementia (PWD) and their supporters
- To discover the what triggers behaviour that challenges and how this affect the wellbeing of the person with dementia and those who support them.
- We will produce resources the be used by families and students
- We aim to increase understanding and reduce stigma associated with dementia in the community.
Objectives
- Identify threats to the wellbeing of people with dementia and their carers
- Identify common triggers to unusual behaviour
- Produce a toolbox of coping strategies for people with dementia and their carers to reduce the threat to general wellbeing and mental health.
- Have fun, learn new skills and revisit old skills
- Build a community of support
- Listen to what is needed – bridge the gap
- Produce a library of resources to be used by families and professionals
